Imo State Govt to demolish Sen. Chris Anyanwu's Radio Station

Sen. Chris Anyanwu

Not minding whose ox is gored, the authorities of the Imo State government owned Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), have directed the management of 99.5 Hot FM radio station located at Musa Yar’Adu Drive, Owerri, capital of Imo State, to demolish their building within this week or have the agency demolish it.

According to a statement signed and issued by one Chief Amadi of Proper Investment Limited, consultants to the authority, the building housing the station was “illegal and defective”, adding that the occupants should reinstate the piece of land the condition it was prior to its development.

Both the building and the station, LEGISREPORTS gathered, are owned by the Senator representing Owerri Senatorial district (Imo East), Mrs. Chris Anyanwu, also a seasoned broadcast journalist.

Senator Anyanwu has been having sour relationship with the governor of Imo state, Mr. Rochas Okorocha. Both had in 2011 contested and won elections into their positions via the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), but last year, both allegedly parted ways, embracing different political parties.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the OCDA, Mrs. Ada Okwara, said the agency had embarked on what she said “Operation Show Your Building Permit”.

The authority’s General Manager, Mr. Iheanyi Abakwume, said there was no political vendetta on the issue, adding that the present administration was keen in restoring the master plan of Owerri drafted in 1977 when Imo state was created.

Pls tell me if this action doesn't smell like vendetta...
