Song Review: Souvenir by Lupay ft Estar

iBelieve Entertainment's frontline artiste, Lupay has just dropped a debut single titled "Souvenir". He features Estar, an erstwhile member of the defunct music group "Resonance", in this track.

Lupay is making his full debut into the mainstream music industry, while Estar is making a comeback, after a brief hiatus from the industry.

Souvenir is a mid-tempo tune. It is synth-mild; with lots of electric guitar riffs and strums. Both of them resonate incrementally, in consonance to a moderate electro traditional percussion rhythm. All these combine to give off a rich mid-tempo high-life sound. The song is well produced, mixed and mastered. Kudos to the Producer DY Grillo, and EMX too, who handled the mixing and mastering of this track. Though it could have been even more better. I can only imagine how extra rich the sound would have been like, if a DJ Coublon or Young John had handled this track. But hey! It's a debut single. There’s more to come in due course.

The lyrics basically describes a man and woman who are expressing their undying love for each other love; with the man promising to take good care of her. The style of lyrics delivery is smooth. The lyrics literally rolls off the tongue. It's that mellow and smooth. However, I feel the chorus wasn't as catchy as I would have loved it to be. It's more of a listen-to-me song, than a sing-along-song. Either way, it is still a great song.

Lupay sings with ease. He doesn't try to outdo himself on this one. I really liked his laid back style of singing in this track. And it can only get better than this, in subsequent singles. Lupay is clearly here for the long haul.

It is indeed great to have Estar's sweetly sonorous voice back on the airwaves. The richness of her vocals is refreshing. Her rich soprano blends quite well with Lupay's silky sub-tenor/baritone. I hope to see them do more collabos. Kudos to both of them for putting out this cool song.

In all, Souvenir is that kind of song you would love to listen to while on the move, driving, or lounging. It's a great song to play at wedding receptions (traditional and white), too. I rate Souvenir 3 stars out of 5.
